Wild Dolphin Freediving Expedition – Bahamas

7 days aboard the Dolphin Dream. Wild dolphins, blue water, and pro-level freediving + photography coaching.

Why This Trip?

Seven days on the Dolphin Dream liveaboard. Clear Bahamian water, wild pods of Atlantic spotted and bottlenose dolphins, and plenty of time to shoot. You’ll train freediving skills, practice underwater photography, and have the chance to capture dolphins in every light — even at night when they hunt squid.

It’s a rare opportunity to spend full days in the water with these animals, while enjoying a comfortable boat, good food, and a small group atmosphere.

Whats Included?

7 days / 6 nights aboard the Dolphin Dream liveaboard

  • All meals, drinks, and shared cabins included

  • Daily freediving coaching + in-water safety support

  • Underwater photography instruction and pro image reviews

  • Open-water sessions with Atlantic spotted & bottlenose dolphins

  • Afternoon reef dives + freediving practice on shallow sites

  • Night freediving opportunities with dolphins feeding on squid (conditions permitting)

  • Kraken gear demos – lights, setups, and pro rigs to test

  • Photo contest + prizes on the final night

  • Small group format (12 guests max) for personal attention

A Typical Day

  • Morning: Start with breakfast, freediving breath-up, stretching, and warmups. Then we head straight out with the dolphins — they’re most active in the mornings and evenings. We’ll freedive and photograph with them until they settle down mid-day.

  • Midday: When the dolphins go quiet, we anchor on shallow reefs. This is the time to relax, practice line diving, shoot reef life, and just enjoy being in the water. Lunch is served onboard before heading back out.

  • Afternoon: Another chance to find dolphins as they become active again. These sessions are slower, with more opportunities for creative shooting and interaction.

  • Evening: Dinner on board, then — if conditions allow — we go back in after dark to watch dolphins hunting squid at night.

Every day is shaped by the weather and the dolphins’ behavior, but you’ll always have long water time, freedive training, and plenty of chances to refine your shots.

Workshop Reviews

My expectations have been set so high, I don’t know if anyone else could match them.

I booked a three-day underwater photography workshop with Shawn in the cenotes, and the entire experience was flawless. Every shot was timed with light rays and customized for the images I dreamed of. I even got incredible portraits of myself as a bonus. Shawn and Arthur planned every frame with intention and grace. It was the best dive experience of my life.

No. This is a freediving + photography trip. Comfortable snorkeling and open-water comfort required. We’ll coach breath-up, equalization, and safety.

What level of freediving is required?
All levels welcome. Typical depths are shallow (3–15 m) with lots of surface time and repeated drops. No ego depth goals—control and composure first.

Is the night dolphin/squid action guaranteed?
No guarantees—wild animals + weather. We go when it’s safe and the behavior is on. You’ll still get long water time and plenty of shooting.

What camera gear should I bring?
Anything from GoPro to mirrorless/DSLR works. Wide-angle is king. For night work, high-output video lights help. We’ll have Kraken demo lights available.

Safety + ethics with dolphins?
No touching, no chasing, no feeding. We match their behavior, respect distance, and follow crew/instructor direction—always.
